Hetzner Cloud Pricing 2026 After the April and June Hikes
Hetzner Cloud starts at $7.49/mo for a CPX02 in Europe in 2026, after hikes on 1 April and 15 June. Every server line, the old vs new price, US costs and five bills.

Hetzner Cloud now starts at $7.49/mo for a CPX02 (1 vCPU, 1 GB of RAM, 20 GB of NVMe) in Germany or Finland, plus $0.60 for a primary IPv4 address, excluding VAT. The popular 2 vCPU, 4 GB CPX22 is $22.99/mo, up from $9.49 before the 15 June 2026 increase, which followed a first rise on 1 April.
Every price below is in US dollars, excludes VAT and was read on Hetzner's June price adjustment table and its live Regular Performance and General Purpose price lists on October 19, 2026. Our view: Hetzner is still the cheaper box in Europe at every size we compared, but the gap to DigitalOcean shrank to cents on small servers, and in the US it has flipped.
| Server line | Cheapest current size (EU) | Monthly, excl. IPv4 | Before 15 June | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Regular Performance (CPX, shared AMD) | CPX02: 1 vCPU, 1 GB, 20 GB | $7.49 | New size | Side projects, small web apps |
| Regular Performance (CPX, shared AMD) | CPX22: 2 vCPU, 4 GB, 80 GB | $22.99 | $9.49 | The default app server |
| General Purpose (CCX, dedicated AMD) | CCX13: 2 vCPU, 8 GB, 80 GB | $50.49 | $18.49 | Databases, steady CPU load |
| Cost-Optimized (CX, Intel/AMD) | CX23: 2 vCPU, 4 GB, 40 GB | $6.49 | $4.99 | Listed, but marked not available |
| Cost-Optimized (CAX, Arm) | CAX11: 2 vCPU, 4 GB, 40 GB | $6.99 | $5.49 | Listed, but marked not available |
Toolradar data: the median entry plan across the 118 Hosting & Deployment tools with a verified entry price on Toolradar, the software directory we run, is $12/mo as of October 2026. Hetzner's cheapest server you can order today, the CPX02 with its IPv4 address, still lands under that median; the CPX22 no longer does. The profile is Hetzner on Toolradar.
What changed on 1 April and 15 June 2026?
Hetzner raised prices twice in 2026, and the two rounds hit different customers. The 1 April statement, published on 23 February, applied to existing products and new orders alike, citing higher costs to run its infrastructure and to buy hardware. It gave no per-product figures.
The 15 June round was larger and narrower. It applies only to new orders and to rescales of existing servers, and Hetzner names "the ongoing challenges in the hardware procurement market" as the cause. A server you already rent keeps its price until you resize it, which makes a rescale the moment your bill actually changes.
Load Balancers, Volumes, Snapshots, Object Storage, IPs and storage products were excluded from the June round. That matters for budgeting: the compute line jumped, while the add-ons around it held still.
How much did each server go up?
The shared AMD and dedicated lines took the steepest increase. Our arithmetic on Hetzner's own old-and-new table, EU locations, USD, excluding IPv4:
| Server | vCPU / RAM | Before 15 June | Now | Multiple | Extra per year |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| CPX22 | 2 / 4 GB | $9.49 | $22.99 | 2.42x | $162 |
| CPX32 | 4 / 8 GB | $15.99 | $41.99 | 2.63x | $312 |
| CPX42 | 8 / 16 GB | $29.99 | $81.99 | 2.73x | $624 |
| CPX52 | 12 / 24 GB | $42.99 | $118.99 | 2.77x | $912 |
| CCX13 | 2 dedicated / 8 GB | $18.49 | $50.49 | 2.73x | $384 |
| CCX23 | 4 dedicated / 16 GB | $36.99 | $101.49 | 2.74x | $774 |
| CX23 | 2 / 4 GB | $4.99 | $6.49 | 1.30x | $18 |
| CAX11 | 2 Arm / 4 GB | $5.49 | $6.99 | 1.27x | $18 |
The cheap lines rose about 30 percent, the mainstream ones nearly tripled. That split is the whole story for a buyer: the CX and CAX servers kept their bargain status on paper, but Hetzner's Cost-Optimized page marks every one of them not available, so most new orders land on CPX or CCX at the higher price. The "before 15 June" column is the price in force after the April round, so the full 2026 rise from January is larger than this table shows.
What does Hetzner Cloud cost in each region?
Location now changes the price more than it used to. Hetzner sells a different server generation in the US, and its US list prices sit well above the European ones for similar specs.
| Region | Entry server | Spec | Monthly, excl. IPv4 | Included traffic |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Germany / Finland | CPX02 | 1 vCPU, 1 GB, 20 GB | $7.49 | At least 20 TB |
| Germany / Finland | CPX12 | 1 vCPU, 2 GB, 40 GB | $13.49 | At least 20 TB |
| US (Ashburn, Hillsboro) | CPX11 | 2 vCPU, 2 GB, 40 GB | $20.49 | At least 1 TB |
| US (Ashburn, Hillsboro) | CPX21 | 3 vCPU, 4 GB, 80 GB | $37.49 | At least 1 TB |
| Singapore | CPX02 | 1 vCPU, 1 GB, 20 GB | $8.99 | At least 0.5 TB |
| Singapore | CPX12 | 1 vCPU, 2 GB, 40 GB | $17.99 | At least 0.5 TB |
The US CPX11 cost $6.99 before 15 June, so it is now 2.93 times its old price, the sharpest jump in the small sizes. Traffic is the second US penalty. A European server includes at least 20 TB of outbound traffic, a US server at least 1 TB, and extra traffic costs $1.20 per TB in both regions and $8.30 per TB in Singapore, per Hetzner's own price list.
Dedicated CCX servers are the one line priced almost the same everywhere outside Singapore: the CCX13 is $50.49 in Europe and $50.99 in the US. If you need a US server from Hetzner, a dedicated CCX is the least penalized choice.
How does Hetzner Cloud billing work?
Hetzner bills cloud servers by the hour with a monthly cap. Its price list states that a server's bill "will never exceed its monthly price cap", and a server deleted before the month ends pays only the hourly rate for the hours it existed. The CPX22 runs $0.0368 an hour, so a server that lives for a two-day load test costs under $2.
The catch is the word deleted. Hetzner bills each cloud server until you delete it, so a powered-off server keeps accruing up to its cap. To stop paying, snapshot it and delete it.
Server prices in Hetzner's June table exclude the primary IPv4 address, which costs $0.60 a month on top, while the live price list quotes each server with the address included. Budget the fee for every server in a fleet unless you run IPv6 only.
Five Hetzner Cloud bills, priced
Our arithmetic on the list prices above, USD per month, excluding VAT. Each bill includes one primary IPv4 address.
| Scenario | Hetzner setup | Hetzner monthly | DigitalOcean nearest Droplet | DigitalOcean monthly |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Side project in Europe | CPX02 + IPv4 | $8.09 | Basic, 1 vCPU, 1 GiB | $6 |
| Small production app in Europe | CPX22 + IPv4 | $23.59 | Basic, 2 vCPU, 4 GiB | $24 |
| Growing app in Europe | CPX42 + IPv4 | $82.59 | Basic, 8 vCPU, 16 GiB | $96 |
| Database on dedicated vCPUs | CCX13 + IPv4 | $51.09 | General Purpose, 2 vCPU, 8 GiB | $63 |
| Same small app in the US | CPX21 + IPv4 | $38.09 | Basic, 2 vCPU, 4 GiB | $24 |
DigitalOcean prices come from its Droplet pricing page, read the same day; its Basic Droplets include a public IPv4 at no extra charge. Three things stand out.
Europe still favors Hetzner from 8 GB up. At 16 GB the CPX42 saves $13.41 a month, and on dedicated vCPUs the CCX13 saves $11.91. At 4 GB the two are within 41 cents, so the deciding factor there is the 20 TB of included traffic against DigitalOcean's 4,000 GiB, not the sticker.
The smallest Hetzner server is no longer the cheapest box. A 1 GiB Droplet costs less than a CPX02 with its address, and the CPX02's 1 GB of RAM is the same size. Hetzner's old under-$5 entry point exists only as the unavailable CX23.
In the US, Hetzner now costs more. The CPX21 bill is $14.09 a month above DigitalOcean's 4 GiB Droplet, with about a quarter of the included traffic. Only a workload that needs Hetzner's European footprint or its dedicated CCX pricing still justifies a US Hetzner server on price.
Costs outside the server price
- Traffic overage. Beyond the included allowance, outbound traffic costs $1.20 per TB in Europe and the US and $8.30 per TB in Singapore. A European CPX22 pushing 30 TB a month pays $12 extra for the 10 TB over its allowance.
- Primary IPv4. The address fee applies per server and was untouched by the June round, since IPs were excluded.
- Powered-off servers. They bill until deleted, up to the monthly cap.
- Rescales. Resizing an existing server moves it onto current pricing, and Hetzner's notice says certain other changes to servers with legacy pricing can trigger the same switch.
- VAT. EU customers pay VAT on top; Hetzner keeps a separate German price list that includes 19 percent VAT.
Should you move off Hetzner after the increases?
Not if your servers already run there. Existing servers kept their pre-June price, so the cheapest move for a current customer is to avoid rescaling a CPX or CCX server that still bills at the old rate; add a new server alongside it instead, and compare that new server's price with the alternatives first.
For new European projects, Hetzner remains the price leader at 8 GB and above, and the included 20 TB of traffic is worth real money to anything serving files or video. Frequently asked questions
How much does Hetzner Cloud cost per month in 2026?
In Germany and Finland, the smallest orderable server is the CPX02 at $7.49 a month excluding VAT, with 1 vCPU, 1 GB of RAM and 20 GB of NVMe, plus a primary IPv4 address priced separately. The 2 vCPU, 4 GB CPX22 is $22.99, and dedicated-vCPU servers start with the CCX13 at $50.49.
How much did Hetzner raise cloud prices in June 2026?
On 15 June 2026, mainstream shared and dedicated servers rose between about 2.2 and 2.8 times for new orders and rescales in Europe: the CPX22 now costs 2.42 times its old price and the dedicated CCX13 2.73 times. The Cost-Optimized CX and CAX lines rose about 30 percent. An earlier increase on 1 April also applied to existing servers.
Do existing Hetzner servers get the new price?
The 15 June increase applies only to new orders and rescales, so a server you already rent keeps its price until you resize it. The 1 April increase was different and applied to existing products as well as new orders.
Why is Hetzner more expensive in the US?
Hetzner sells a different server line in Ashburn and Hillsboro with higher list prices: the entry CPX11 (2 vCPU, 2 GB) costs $20.49 a month against $13.49 for a 2 GB CPX12 in Europe. US servers also include at least 1 TB of traffic, against at least 20 TB in Europe, which makes DigitalOcean cheaper for small US servers.
Does Hetzner charge for a stopped server?
Yes. Hetzner bills each cloud server until it is deleted, up to the server's monthly price cap, so powering it off does not stop the charge. Snapshot the server and delete it to stop paying for compute.
Is Hetzner still cheaper than DigitalOcean?
In Europe, yes from 8 GB upward: an 8 vCPU, 16 GB CPX42 with its IPv4 address costs $82.59 a month against $96 for DigitalOcean's equivalent Basic Droplet. At 4 GB the two are within a dollar, and at 1 GB and in the US DigitalOcean is now cheaper.
How we priced this
Every Hetzner price was read on October 19, 2026 on Hetzner's price adjustment table, its Regular Performance, General Purpose and Cost-Optimized price lists, and its April and June press statements; DigitalOcean prices on its Droplet pricing page the same day. Hetzner prices are in USD and exclude VAT; Hetzner also prices in euros (the CPX22 is €19.49). The multiples, yearly differences and five bills are our arithmetic on those list prices. The Toolradar median comes from its Hosting & Deployment data, October 2026. This page reads published prices and does not benchmark servers. Prices change, so recheck before you commit.
