Bolt.new Review

What Bolt.new Pro, Teams, and the higher token steps cost for one builder and for a small team, set against Lovable, v0, Replit, and Base44.

TL;DR

Bolt.new is worth it in 2026 when one person is building and the project can stay inside the entry token allotment. Monthly Pro is $25/mo, the rate that makes sense only if you might cancel within a month or two.

The yearly card is the one to buy if you will keep the subscription. It removes the daily token cap, the Made in Bolt badge, and the block on custom domains.

Teams is priced per member, and each person's tokens stay on that seat, so a quiet teammate still adds a full seat. The seat price does not shrink when that person ships nothing.

For a cheaper yearly start on a similar chat-to-app job, Base44 Starter is $16/mo billed annually. For a shared credit pool instead of per-seat tokens, Lovable's annual Pro rate is $21/mo.

  • Updated: October 20, 2026
  • Best for: Solo builders who want a hosted prototype and can stay inside the entry token allotment.
  • Price as of October 20, 2026: From $18/mo billed yearly (Pro, 10M tokens to start); monthly costs more, and Teams is per member.
  • StackBlitz's browser app builder, with hosting included and tokens that roll for two months on paid plans.
  • Company: StackBlitz, Inc., San Francisco
  • Free plan: Yes, with 1 million tokens a month and a 300,000 token daily cap
  • Teams billing: Per member, and token allotments are not shared
  • Alternatives covered: Lovable, v0, Replit, Base44

Pros

  • Yearly Pro is the solo plan: the entry allotment, custom domains, no Made in Bolt badge, and two-month rollover.
  • Code view edits and version restores spend no tokens, so a manual fix does not open another agent run.
  • You own the code, including for a commercial product, and Bolt Database is on the free plan.

Cons

  • Free hosting shuts every published site on the account off after 333,333 requests or 10 GB, until the monthly reset.
  • Teams tokens are not shared, so five seats cost five allotments even when one person does the building.
  • Larger projects burn more tokens per message because Bolt sends the file tree to the model, and a single message has no published price.

Bolt.new is StackBlitz's browser app builder: you describe a site or app, an agent writes the project, and Bolt Cloud can publish it without a separate host. Developers keep comparing it with Lovable, v0, and Replit in the vibe coding set.

The buying question is the monthly bill, once the token allotment, the hosting cap, and a second teammate show up. Whether the chat can scaffold a page is the wrong test.

This review prices the public cards, the higher token steps documented in Bolt's billing help, and a five-seat and twenty-seat Teams bill built from those rates. It marks where a shared-credit builder, a Vercel-shaped generator, a full IDE, or a cheaper yearly starter is the better buy.

Solo developers who want a hosted prototype are the fit, and a team that expects one pool of usage is not. Read the bill for one builder before you multiply it by seats.

What is Bolt.new?

Bolt.new is a browser app from StackBlitz: you prompt an agent, preview the project, edit it in Code view, and publish straight to bolt.host. Nothing to install matters when you need to share a prototype before you pick a host.

Bolt Cloud handles hosting, the domain, and the database inside that project. Bolt Database is on every plan, including free, so a first version does not need an outside database.

Connecting Supabase requires Pro or Teams when that backend is already your plan. You can publish the same project to Netlify when the domain already lives there.

The commercial-use page says the code you create is yours, including a product you charge for, so a paid app can ship. Free sites keep a Made in Bolt badge and cannot take a custom domain, so a launch on your own URL is a paid plan.

How Bolt.new works

A project starts from a prompt, a Figma file, a GitHub repo, or a team template, so the first session need not be a blank chat. Standard is the only free agent, and the efficient choice when the task is already defined.

Max, for larger codebases and less defined tasks, requires a paid plan, so a vague rebuild should not stay on free. Forge is left off Teams and Enterprise, even when it sits in the picker on open-source models, so a team plan does not add that agent.

Most token use comes from Bolt reading the project files, so a larger repo costs more per message than a short landing page. Edits in Code view and restores from version history do not spend tokens, while prompts in Plan mode and in the build flow do.

Free accounts get 300,000 tokens a day plus a separate monthly grant, and neither bucket rolls forward, so an unused day is gone. Paid tokens reset on the renewal date, and unused ones stay usable for two months while the subscription remains paid.

A new account cannot start free Forge, because extra Pro access has ended and new Lite sign-ups are closed. Anyone already on Lite keeps $9/mo, a grandfathered rate a new buyer cannot start.

Bolt.new key features

Token allotments and rolloverEssential
Paid plans drop the free daily cap, which is what a builder who prompts every day is paying for. The public Pro card starts at 10M tokens a month. Unused paid tokens stay available for two months while the subscription is active, so a quiet week is not wasted. Free tokens reset every day and on the first of the month, so the free plan is a trial rather than a bank.
Standard and Max agentsEssential
Standard is the only agent on the free plan and the token-efficient default for defined work, so a clear prompt should stay there. Max requires a paid plan and spends more reasoning on large codebases and open-ended tasks. Bolt chooses the model, and Code view edits plus version restores spend no tokens, so a hand fix does not start another run.
Bolt Cloud hosting capsEssential
Every plan can publish on bolt.host, enough to share a preview without another host. Free accounts share 10 GB and 333,333 requests a month across every site, and either cap takes all of those sites offline until the reset. Paid hosting raises that to 30 GB and 1 million requests, then a spending cap you set so a busy page does not become an open bill.
Bolt Database and Supabase
Bolt Database is on every plan, including Free, with no stated cap on how many you can create, so a prototype can store data before you pay. Supabase, and claiming a Bolt database into Supabase, requires Pro or Teams. Paid Bolt Cloud also covers auth, file storage, server functions, and Stripe payments, which keeps those off a second vendor.
Code ownership and custom domains
The commercial-use page says code you create with Bolt is yours, including for a paid product, so a client build can leave the tool. Custom domains, private sharing, and removal of the Made in Bolt badge start on any paid plan. Free sites keep the badge and stay on bolt.host, so a branded URL is not free.
Teams seats that do not share tokens
Teams is billed per member, and each seat gets its own allotment that is not shared. An idle teammate still costs a full allotment and does not give the builder more tokens. The plan adds centralized billing, admin controls, private NPM registries, and design-system prompts. Buy it for those controls, not for a bigger shared pool.

Bolt.new pricing

Prices below were read on October 17, 2026. Bolt's cards are on Bolt pricing, the higher steps on Bolt billing, and caps on Bolt Cloud hosting plans. Competitor rates are on Lovable's plan docs, v0 pricing, Replit pricing, and Base44 pricing.

One builder who pays Pro monthly for a year spends $300. Billing help prices the yearly card at $216, which is $84 less than twelve monthly payments, so month to month costs more for the same plan.

The pricing page says yearly billing saves up to 28% on that entry card, not on every higher step. Teams drops to $27 per member on the yearly card, a smaller cut, so a team saves less by prepaying.

Five people on Teams cost $150/mo monthly and $135/mo on the yearly card, a small saving that still grows with headcount. Twenty people cost $600/mo monthly, or $6,480 for a year at the yearly per-member rate, which is a team budget.

Those seats do not share tokens, so one builder is cheaper on the solo plan. Extra seats buy admin controls rather than more generation for that person.

Billing help names Pro 50 at $50/mo for a larger monthly allotment, and Pro 100 for 55M tokens at the step above it. The annual example for that Pro 50 allotment is $540/year if you will stay on the step. Pro 200 is named in a downgrade example and publishes no list price, so leave it out of a budget.

Token reloads, on the highest monthly Pro plan or any annual plan, do not expire. The price shows only inside the subscription screen, so a top-up cannot be costed from the public page.

Paid hosting can add bandwidth up to a cap you set. No per-gigabyte rate is published, so the overage stays unknown until you are already subscribed.

Toolradar data: Toolradar tracks 157 app builders as of October 16, 2026, and the median cheapest paid plan is $25/mo across the 42 that publish a price, on the app builders ranking. Bolt's monthly Pro card sits on that median. Profiles: Bolt, Lovable, v0, Replit, and Base44.

Bolt.new pros and cons

What we like

  • Yearly Pro is the solo plan: the entry allotment, custom domains, no Made in Bolt badge, and two-month rollover.
  • Code view edits and version restores spend no tokens, so a manual fix does not open another agent run.
  • You own the code, including for a commercial product, and Bolt Database is on the free plan.

What could be better

  • Free hosting shuts every published site on the account off after 333,333 requests or 10 GB, until the monthly reset.
  • Teams tokens are not shared, so five seats cost five allotments even when one person does the building.
  • Larger projects burn more tokens per message because Bolt sends the file tree to the model, and a single message has no published price.

Who Bolt.new is for

Bolt.new fits a solo developer who wants a hosted prototype and will stay near the entry allotment. Yearly Pro is the clean bill for that person: a custom domain, no badge, Max, and rollover, without a second seat.

It also fits a founder shipping a campaign page who would otherwise open a separate host and a separate database for a first version. That buyer is avoiding extra accounts, not shopping for a team plan.

Skip it when the team expects one shared pool of usage. Lovable bills the workspace, not the seat, so a teammate does not add a charge the way a Bolt seat does. Skip a Next.js app that already deploys on Vercel, because v0 is built to land there.

Skip it when you want an IDE, database rollback, and hosting on one login. That is the Replit case, rather than a chat beside a preview: see Replit.

Cursor and GitHub Copilot fit when the repo already exists, since they sit in the editor and do not publish a Bolt site. The Cursor and GitHub Copilot reviews cover that editing job.

An annual downgrade, including a move from yearly Pro back to monthly, waits until the renewal. That wait can leave you on the higher price for most of a year after you have already decided to step down.

The bottom line

Buy yearly Pro if you are one person and the prototype fits the entry allotment. That card is the public rate for custom domains, badge removal, Max, and token rollover, which is what a solo launch needs.

Pay monthly only if you might cancel inside a month or two, because a full year of monthly bills costs more. Move up a token step only when the entry allotment runs out, not during the first week, or you pay for unused headroom.

Do not put a five-person group on Teams unless you need the admin controls, because the tokens will not pool and every seat is still billed. Choose Base44 when the yearly starter price matters more than Bolt's hosting caps.

Choose Lovable for one shared credit pool, v0 when the deploy target is Vercel, and Replit when the IDE and the database should share a login. Choose Cursor when the repo already exists and the work is editing it.

The longer price notes are Lovable and Replit, if the switch turns on credits or the IDE bill: Lovable pricing and Replit pricing. The wider set is the vibe coding tools page, and the editor side of the same question is AI coding assistants.

Methodology: plans, prices, and limits were read on each vendor's pricing page or official plan docs on October 17, 2026. The five-seat and twenty-seat totals are arithmetic on those published rates, not a quote from a sales call. The four alternatives are the chat-to-app products a Bolt buyer can switch to. None of them is a sponsored placement on this page. This site does not run a test lab, and no app was built for this review.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Bolt.new cost?

Pro is $25/mo billed monthly, or $18/mo billed yearly, and billing help prices that year at $216, so prepaying is cheaper if you will stay. The entry step starts at 10M tokens a month, with no daily cap, and unused paid tokens last two months, so a quiet week is not lost. Teams is $30 per member a month, or $27 billed yearly, and each member's tokens stay on that seat, so a second person is a second bill. Pro 50 is $50/mo for 26M tokens and Pro 100 is $100/mo for 55M tokens, the steps once the entry allotment runs out. Enterprise is a custom quote, and the cards plus the billing help were read on October 17, 2026.

Is Bolt.new worth it in 2026?

Yes for a solo builder who will stay near the entry allotment, especially on the yearly card, because that card removes the badge and the domain block. It is a weak buy for a team that wants one shared pool, because Teams multiplies seats and does not pool tokens, so idle people still cost a seat. It is also a weak buy when a free-plan site must survive a traffic spike, because either free hosting cap takes every published site offline until the reset.

Does Bolt.new have a free plan?

Yes, the free plan includes public and private projects, 300,000 tokens a day, 1 million tokens a month, Bolt Database, and hosting up to 333,333 requests or 10 GB. The daily grant does not bank unused tokens, and the monthly grant resets on the first, so a skipped day is not saved for later. Published sites show a Made in Bolt badge, custom domains are blocked, and only the Standard agent is available, so a branded URL is not a free outcome. Supabase requires a paid plan, so a project that must use it is already a paid decision.

What are the best Bolt.new alternatives?

Base44 Starter is the cheaper yearly chat-to-app plan, at $16/mo billed annually for 100 message credits, when that starter price matters more than Bolt's hosting caps. Lovable is the shared-pool switch, at $21/mo on annual Pro, because adding a member does not add a seat. v0 is the switch when the app should deploy on Vercel, on the per-user Plus card, so you are not generating in one tool only to move hosts. Replit Core fits an IDE, hosting, and a database on one login, and Cursor fits a repository you already have rather than a new hosted app.

Do you own the code Bolt.new generates?

Yes: StackBlitz's commercial-use page says all code you create with Bolt and StackBlitz is your code, including for a commercial product, so a paid app is allowed. That ownership does not remove third-party terms on the models you invoke. If you accept Forge, prompts and project files can be de-identified and used to train open models, except sessions from the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland.
