v0 Review
What v0's Free, Plus, Business and Enterprise plans cost per user, how its token-priced credits drain, and when Bolt.new, Lovable, Replit or Base44 is the cheaper build.
v0 is worth it in 2026 for a developer or team already shipping Next.js on Vercel, and a poor buy for a non-coder who wants hosting, database and auth in one bill. Plus is $30 per user a month and Business is $100 per user a month, read on v0's pricing page on October 19, 2026.
Each paid seat gets a monthly credit grant equal to the Plus fee, and every message draws on it at per-token rates that run from $0.20 per million input tokens on v0 Mini to $10 on v0 Max Fast. A model choice can therefore stretch or shrink the same grant several times over.
Business adds no extra credits over Plus: the $70 per user gap buys a training opt-out by default. v0 also sits outside your Vercel subscription, so a commercial launch on Vercel Pro is a second bill.
Key factsBest for: Developers shipping Next.js on Vercel who want generated…
- Vercel's AI app builder, billing per user and metering every message in tokens by model.
- Company: Vercel
- Free plan: Yes, with 7 messages a day and a one-time credit offer for new users
- Paid plans: Plus and Business are billed per user each month, with no yearly option listed
- Credit metering: Per input and output token, at a rate set by the model you choose
Pros
- Four published model rates, from $0.20 per million input tokens on v0 Mini, let you trade quality for cost per message.
- GitHub sync works through chat branches and pull requests, so generated changes get reviewed before merge.
- Deploys to Vercel with previews, rollbacks and a Fix with v0 button that reads failing build logs.
Cons
- Business costs $70 more per user than Plus with the same monthly credits; the gap buys a training opt-out.
- Hosting is a separate Vercel bill, and v0 lists no yearly discount, no refunds and no student pricing.
- Context such as chat history and source files counts as input, so a short prompt in a big project still costs more.

v0 is Vercel's AI app builder: you describe an interface or a full-stack feature, an agent writes Next.js code, and the result deploys to Vercel. Developers weigh it against Bolt.new, Lovable and Replit in the vibe coding set.
The buying question is what a month of building costs, because v0 prices usage in tokens rather than in messages or projects. A short prompt in a large project can still be an expensive message, since v0 sends chat history and source files along as input.
This review prices the public plans, converts the published token rates into a cost per message for a defined example, and builds a solo bill and a five-seat bill against the four nearest alternatives. Every figure comes from a vendor page, and the per-message numbers are our arithmetic on v0's own rates.
What is v0?
v0 is a browser-based agent from Vercel. It builds web apps from prompts, screenshots, Figma files or an imported GitHub repository, and its docs describe full-stack output on Next.js by default: server components, API routes, and database connections to Supabase, Neon and Upstash through the Vercel Marketplace.
Deployment is the point of the product. Every project publishes to a vercel.app URL and takes a custom domain from the Publish menu. It also inherits Vercel's preview deployments, logs and rollbacks. A team that already runs production on Vercel gets generated code that lands where its other apps live.
On ownership, v0's FAQ says Vercel does not own the code generated from your prompts, and leaves it to you to judge whether the output is fit for commercial use. GitHub sync works through chat-specific branches and pull requests, so a developer can review v0's changes like any other contributor's before they merge.
How v0 works
v0 bills in credits that work like a prepaid dollar balance. Each message is split into input and output tokens and charged at the rate of the model you picked. The input includes chat history, source files and Vercel-specific context, not only what you typed. That is why v0's own FAQ answers the question of why short prompts still use many input tokens.
Four models are priced on the page, v0 Mini, v0 Pro, v0 Max and v0 Max Fast, and output tokens cost five to six times more than input on each, so a long generated file costs more than a long prompt. Cached input is billed at a tenth of the normal input rate on every model, which rewards long sessions in one chat over many fresh chats.
Paid plans draw on the monthly grant first, then on purchased credits. The pricing page says unused monthly credits roll over for one month, and the pricing docs put the expiry at 65 days; purchased credits last a year and need an active paid plan to spend. When the balance hits zero, generation pauses until you add more.
Free accounts are capped at 7 messages a day, and new sign-ups get a one-time $5 credit offer. Design Mode lets you select an element in the preview and adjust its type, spacing, colors and borders in a visual panel, with the edits written back to the source code.
v0 key features
v0 pricing
Prices below were read on October 19, 2026 on v0 pricing and the v0 pricing docs. Hosting is on Vercel pricing, and competitor rates are on Bolt pricing, Lovable's plan docs, Replit pricing and Base44 pricing. v0 lists monthly billing only, so the comparisons below use each rival's monthly price unless a line says otherwise.
A solo builder on Plus pays $360 a year at the monthly rate, with no yearly discount to claim. Shipping that app commercially on Vercel Pro adds $20 a month, because v0's FAQ says v0 is not included in any Vercel subscription; the pair comes to $50 a month by our addition.
What the credit grant buys depends on the model. Take a message that sends 50,000 input tokens of context and returns 5,000 output tokens; the size is our illustration, not a v0 figure. It costs $0.15 on v0 Pro, $0.375 on v0 Max and about $0.016 on v0 Mini, by our arithmetic on the published rates. One month's Plus grant covers about 200 such messages on v0 Pro and 80 on v0 Max, before cache discounts.
Five people on Plus cost $150 a month, and each keeps a separate grant. Five on Business cost $500 a month for the same credits, so the $350 difference is the price of a training opt-out by default. A team that only needs the opt-out should weigh that against Enterprise's SAML SSO and role-based access, which no self-serve plan includes.
Against the field at monthly prices, Bolt.new Pro and Lovable Pro both undercut v0 Plus by $5 a month, and Replit Core by $10, while Base44 publishes its entry price on yearly billing only. Five builders on Bolt.new Teams cost the same $150 as v0 Plus, because both bill per member, while a Lovable workspace adds members at no seat fee.
v0's FAQ says refunds are generally not offered because each model call has a cost, and there are no student, nonprofit or purchasing power parity discounts. An older Premium plan still appears in the docs but is closed to new users.
Toolradar data: v0 is the joint 12th most-listed alternative among the 157 app builders tracked on Toolradar's app builders ranking, and the median entry price across the 68 with a verified entry price is $25 a month, as of October 2026. v0 Plus sits above that median for a new buyer. Profiles: v0, Bolt, Lovable, Replit and Base44.

v0 pros and cons
What we like
- Four published model rates, from $0.20 per million input tokens on v0 Mini, let you trade quality for cost per message.
- GitHub sync works through chat branches and pull requests, so generated changes get reviewed before merge.
- Deploys to Vercel with previews, rollbacks and a Fix with v0 button that reads failing build logs.
What could be better
- Business costs $70 more per user than Plus with the same monthly credits; the gap buys a training opt-out.
- Hosting is a separate Vercel bill, and v0 lists no yearly discount, no refunds and no student pricing.
- Context such as chat history and source files counts as input, so a short prompt in a big project still costs more.
Who v0 is for
v0 fits a front-end or full-stack developer whose apps already deploy on Vercel. The generated code is Next.js and arrives as pull requests. The deploy target is the one the team already monitors, so nothing has to migrate after the prototype.
It also fits a designer who wants to turn a Figma file or screenshot into working UI and refine it in Design Mode. That buyer can stay on v0 Mini for most edits and keep the grant for the occasional heavy request.
Skip it when the builder is not a developer and wants database, auth and hosting on one bill. Bolt.new and Lovable bundle hosting and a backend, while v0 leaves hosting to Vercel and the database to a Marketplace provider. Skip it too when a team wants one shared pool for many light users: Lovable's pricing adds members without seat fees.
For an IDE, database rollback and hosting on one login, Replit is the closer match; the trade-offs sit in Replit pricing. When the repository already exists and the work is editing it, an editor such as Cursor is the better buy than any chat-to-app builder.

The bottom line
Buy Plus if you build on Next.js, deploy to Vercel and want generated changes as pull requests. Pick v0 Mini for layout tweaks and copy edits and save v0 Pro or Max for multi-file features, because the model choice changes the cost of a message far more than the plan does.
Buy Business only when the training opt-out by default is a requirement, since it adds no credits. Go to Enterprise for SAML SSO and role-based access, which no self-serve plan offers. Budget the Vercel hosting bill on top in every case.
Choose Bolt.new or Lovable when hosting and a database should come with the builder, Lovable for one shared pool across many members, and Replit when the IDE matters. Replit vs Lovable settles that pair, and Vercel pricing covers the hosting half of a v0 bill. The wider field is on AI app development platforms and free AI coding tools.
Methodology: plans, credit rules and model rates were read on v0's pricing page and pricing docs on October 19, 2026, and rival prices on each vendor's pricing page or plan docs the same day. Per-message costs and team totals are our arithmetic on those published rates, using an example message size we chose, not a quote from a vendor. The four alternatives are the chat-to-app builders a v0 buyer most often weighs. This site runs no test lab, and no app was built for this review.
